Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.
Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus is a combination of three medicines: Amoxycillin , Clavulanic Acid and Lactobacillus. Amoxycillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Amoxycillin against bacteria. This treats your infection but may upset your digestive system by killing healthy gut bacteria as well.
Lactobacillus is added to restore the balance of healthy bacteria.
Swallow Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or crush it.
Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus is considered to be harmful for patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin. It is also avoided in patients with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice/liver dysfunction associated with the medicine.
Amoxycillin + Clavulanic Acid + Lactobacillus may be taken every 8 hours or every 12 hours, depending on the dose prescribed by your doctor. It should be taken with a meal or snack to reduce the possibility of getting an upset stomach. Many antibiotics can cause diarrhea. If diarrhea is severe or lasts for more than 2 or 3 days, call your doctor.
No, complete the course even if you feel better. It is common to feel better early in the course of therapy. However, skipping doses or not completing the full course of therapy may reduce the effectiveness of the immediate treatment. It might also make the bacteria develop resistance against the treatment.
If you have had an allergic reaction to one type of penicillin, you may get allergic to ampicillin or to some cephalosporins, but not necessarily. Make sure you tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin.
Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
